What’s your perspective: Are you performing to your greatest leadership potential?
During the last in the current series of Powerbrokers leadership development one-day courses we ask participants to intentionally look back over the past year and to review the shift or transitional journeys that they are making. Participating leaders will take stock and assess where their journeys has taken them to and to hear how they have integrated leadership tools, knowledge and skills across their work, career or personal development plans. Essential future planning on building core leadership strengths will be part of the course. Led by Oliver Nyumbu, of Caret and co-facilitated by Powerbrokers’ Beverley Mason, individuals will demonstrate how they have been working to their strengths, capitalised on their best potential, with many reviewing how the BuildStrengths® concept helped support sustainable change in their leadership behaviour and career progression.

Course Dates:

27 September – Yorkshire
Venue: Dewsbury
30 September - North East
Venue: Newcastle
6 October – Midlands
Venue: Nottingham
8 October - London

Our Purpose for Reflections Leadership Day

We ask “What are you doing to intentionally to lead yourself and how does that impact on your role in leading others?”
We encourage BAME mid-career leaders to benefit from the ritual of reflection and unlocking the power of using perspective.

What happens during Reflections Leadership Day?
Powerbrokers cultural leaders will contemplate the remarkable journeys made over the past year and re-assess their leadership goals, integrating reflection techniques across their practices, career or personal development.

Leadership Objectives
• Increase the conceptual understanding of Reflection and Strengths in relation to Leadership practices prevalent in the arts and creative sectors
• Explore Reflection and strengths-based leadership skills models
• Build on participants’ strengths-based Profiles to increase proficiency in Reflection
• Identify and discover the relationship between the components of emotional and social intelligence leadership competencies
• Use the outcomes of Reflection practices and self-awareness to strengthen networks and resources for extended learning and growth

Outcomes
By reinforcing the power of Intention through Reflection & Perspective, Powerbrokers will
• Achieve a deeper realisation of the benefits of working to strengths, emotional intelligence and recoup a fresh commitment to development goals
• Be inspired and gain an increased confidence: to face larger organisational issues/ or broader personal leadership development questions. We say “Don’t sweat minutiae” – details that cannot be influenced or hope to be fixed
• Feel re-energised by colleagues – and we will encourage leaders to create sustainable support groups with peer Powerbroker leaders

Course Outputs

• You will develop your own lessons and resources on how to increase your leadership life expectancy
• You will create relevant methodologies for and practices in Reflection to step up and leverage your Leadership potential

Application closing date: 5pm, 7 September 2010.

Please ensure that you have submitted a CLP monitoring form if you have not done so already.

Please note that there are two application routes - one for those who have taken part in the BuildStrengths Discovery days and one for those who haven't. Please follow the links on the right.

Follow Up

Successful applicants will be informed by email by 6 September 2010 and a conditional place on the course will be held for you. Course participants will be asked to take a strengths-based online assessment tool and to complete a short questionnaire. Both of these will need to be completed and received by 5pm on 16 September 2010 at the very latest. Instructions will be sent to applicants by Caret, the leadership organisation who facilitates the course day.

The preparatory course and reading work is mandatory as participants will need to have received personalised analysis on their top five leadership Strengths, the profiles which form the basis of the methodologies used during some of the Reflections day course work. This is not too onerous or time consuming however the full value in taking part in the course will be felt by an active engagement in completing the tools and making time for the essential reading on leadership.

Your Leadership Investment
Bursaries are not available for the Powerbrokers Leadership Pathways programme. Please note that the only investment you have to make is your time and travel to and from the venue. All preparatory tools and course reading materials are included. Places will be assured for only those who proactively commit to participating and completing the pre-course work.
