Jeremy Hunt MP, Former Shadow Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport (Conservative)

Don Foster MP, Spokesperson for Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport (Liberal Democrat)

Chaired by David Kershaw, Chief Executive, M&C Saatchi and Chair, Cultural Leadership Programme.

The Debate

As the country arises from the deepest-seated recession of our time, cultural organisations and creative businesses are required to plan ahead amidst industry turbulence, financial and political uncertainty.  The opportunity to hear the views and manifesto priorities from the key political parties played a significant part in contextualising creative and business options for the future.

Mirroring the format of the televised political debates with party leaders, the Culture and Politics debate created the opportunity to hear directly the views of the key cultural spokespersons from the three main political parties, and explore the pros and cons of the ideas and options they outlined.

Culture and Politics was organised and promoted by the Cultural Leadership Programme as part of its ‘Leadership in Uncertain Times’ series.
